This article will introduce alias to create the same account mailbox for multiple domains.
I will take an example to explain it.
Suppose we need to create
for different users.
Because MAILD shares only one user list for all domains, therefore, you can not just simply create "info" accounts for different users, you need to use ALIAS.
You can simply use alias to achieve the goal:
user "peter" is
responsible for email@example.com
user "mary" is responsible for firstname.lastname@example.org
user "bob" is responsible for email@example.com
- First of all , you need reserve the "info" for alias usage, therefore please do not create "info" account in user management.
- Go to peter account, swith to alias tab, create alias "firstname.lastname@example.org".
- Go to mary account, swith to alias tab, create alias "email@example.com"
- Go to bob account, swith to alias tab, create alias "firstname.lastname@example.org"
When you done these three aliases, if someone send mail to email@example.com, the mail will go to peter mailbox; if someone send mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, the mail will go to mary mailbox ; if someone send mail to email@example.com, the mail will go to bob mailbox. And peter, mary, bob also can use their alias email to send mail to internet.
Suppose we want to create three standalone accounts for peter with above three domains. Then peter could setup three accounts in his outlook to retrieve mail from
Thus, you need to create three accounts such as peter1, peter2, peter3 for him and add alias to them in user management.
Go to peter1, add alias firstname.lastname@example.org
Go to peter2, add alias email@example.com
Go to peter3, add alias firstname.lastname@example.org
When it's done, peter could create three accounts in his outlook to retrieve mail.
peter1 is for email@example.com
peter2 is for firstname.lastname@example.org
peter3 is for email@example.com
